Mom of the Month: February 2021

Each month, we are celebrating a member of FIT4MOM West Sacramento/Natomas for her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and dedication to FIT4MOM.

This month, we are spotlighting an amazing mom who has attended the most FIT4MOM West Sacramento / Natomas classes (166 to be exact). Meet our Mom of the Month for January: Lisa Ronco.

Tell us about who is in your family!

My family consists of me, my husband Tony who is a resident at UC Davis medical center, our son Levi (22 months), and our cat Luna. In a few weeks we are going to welcome a golden retriever puppy too (lord help us)!

Where is your hometown?

Vacaville, California

What is your career?

I worked at UC Davis in undergraduate advising and then as a graduate program coordinator before becoming a stay-at-home mom once Levi was born.

How did you find FIT4MOM?

I came across FIT4MOM while searching online for a local mom group while I was pregnant with Levi. I was new to West Sac and didn't know anyone, so finding a group was a top priority for me! I was so excited to see they met five minutes from my house!

How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM West Sacramento/Natomas and what has it done for you?

I have been a member of FIT4MOM since I got the OK to workout after giving birth, which was around 1.5 years ago. FIT4MOM got me back into shape after not working out my entire pregnancy (oops!) and has kept me active throughout those challenging first years of being a mom! It has also surrounded me with an amazing village of moms, which is priceless!

What is your favorite class exercise?

I love standing abs exercises with the resistance band!

What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

How hard it is! I love how this group will listen to me talk about how difficult various stages of motherhood are and not judge, they know I still love my kid!

What are 3 of your favorite things?

Currently - When my husband picks up yummy take-out burritos from Taqueria Ay Jalisco on his way home from work, turning the fire on and cuddling up under a blanket to binge a show, and spending time with my family!

What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

Levi has started to say "prayers" before bed where he lists everything he is thankful for (and yes he has included stroller strides multiple times)! It makes my heart so happy!

What advice would you give to a new mother?

You can do it! It is so hard, but so worth it! Also, find a group of moms to support you. It will make all the difference!

We are so lucky to have Lisa in our village. It wouldn't be the same without her and Levi!
