Mom of the Month: January 2021

Let's kick off 2021 by recognizing one of our many amazing moms!

Each month, we are celebrating a member of FIT4MOM West Sacramento/Natomas for her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and dedication to FIT4MOM.

This month, we are spotlighting an amazing mom who has been a member for over a year! Meet our Mom of the Month for January: Alison DeVera.

Tell us about who is in your family!

I am married to my husband of 5 years. We have one son who is 3 years old.

Where is your hometown?

I grew up in the bay area, but currently live in West Sacramento.

What is your career?

I worked at a preschool in Davis, CA. I was the head teacher of the toddler room for 14.5 years. I left the school because my husband and I decided to work on starting our own family. I found out I was pregnant right before I left and I have been a stay at home mom ever since.

How did you find FIT4MOM?

I heard about FIT4MOM on Facebook, but it wasn't until I talked with my dentist hygienist that I thought I should give it a try. About 7 months later, I tried my first class, and I was hooked.

How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM West Sacramento/Natomas and what has it done for you?

I have been a member of FIT4MOM since September 2019. My whole life, I haven't been a fan of exercise. I tried to join gyms but I would eventually stop going. FIT4MOM Stroller Strides is the first exercise class that I have absolutely loved. I look forward to every class. I also love how it helped me find other moms in the community that are in the same season of life. I have met some awesome moms and some great kiddos. I love our village!

What is your favorite exercise?

My favorite class is Stroller Barre

What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

The amount of love I have for my son. I had always heard about mother's love, but it wasn't until I became a mom that I realized what it meant.

What are 3 of your favorite things?

Family, friends, Hawaii and FIT4MOM

What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

Every time I see my son smile and hear him laugh. To know he is happy means everything to me.

What advice would you give to a new mother?

Don't worry what others think.. Always do what is best for you and your family.

Ending thoughts?

FIT4MOM is a great program! I don't know what I would do without my village!

We are so lucky to have Alison in our village. It wouldn't be the same without her and Kellen!
