Mom of the Month: January 2022

Each month, we are celebrating a member of FIT4MOM West Sacramento/Natomas for her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and dedication to FIT4MOM.

This month, we are spotlighting soon to be mama of two and our newest Stroller Strides instructor! Meet our Mom of the Month for January 2022: Beth Marquez.

Tell us about who is in your family!

Stephen is my amazing husband who not only is the best husband but he also is the one who cuts all the wood I need for my signs and projects. I couldn’t run BethyCrafter without him. Our son Maddox just turned 3 and brings us so much joy, laughter and fun. He loves to help us around the house and keeps us on our toes with his silly antics. We will soon be welcoming baby sister aka baby pizza as Maddox calls her in April as well.

Where is your hometown?

Sacramento, CA

What is your career?

Special Education ParaEducator/Owner and Creator of BethyCrafter

How did you find FIT4MOM?

Facebook

How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM West Sacramento/Natomas and what has it done for you?

I joined Fit4MOM West Sacramento/Natomas spring/summer of 2019. It helped me in so many ways. It has taught me to give myself grace as I was postpartum with my first babe. I gained some of the best friends a mama could ever ask for. I became a runner, which if you know me has never been something I would ever consider myself. My confidence as woman has grown leaps and bounds along with my confidence as a mother. Oh and least I forget my physical and mental health has become the best it’s been in years. FIT4MOM has been truly a lifeline in this crazy hood we call motherhood.

What is your favorite class exercise?

I love a good squat.

What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

How fast things go. Time is a horrible thief. Even in the thick of it there is beauty in the chaos.

What are 3 of your favorite things?

Spending time with my family. Crafting anything and everything. Gardening.

What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

Oh gosh this is a tough one. I guess it would be Maddox cheering me on at my first 5k during Run Club. Seeing him so proud cheering me on and running beside me for a quick minute has forever melted my heart. He was so proud and still talks about it often. And for a mama who wasn’t a runner his encouragement means the world to me and pushed me to finish Rub Club.

What advice would you give to a new mother?

You are not alone. Never feel ashamed or afraid to ask for help especially from your FIT4MOM mamas! We are here for you! And most importantly give yourself grace, you are doing a great job!

Anything else you'd like to add?

A special shout-out to Haley for being the most amazing Mama leader for us. She’s the best gives us all her best. Love her to pieces along with all our mamas!

We are so lucky to have Beth in our village and the newest member of our team. It wouldn't be the same without her and her kiddo!
